So you think you can make better gifs? Well here is your chance to prove it
Announcing for the New Year, OAG's first contest: Out-Gif The Gifmeister
Rules: Each contender may enter up to three images for judging. A panel of judges will base their decisions upon, 1) Quality of footage, 2) Pacing/Looping, and 3) Kick-ass-ity. Determining Kick-ass-ity is at the descrepancy of the judges.
Each entry must be "original"!!! in the sense that you didn't just find it on a message board or some random fansite. The more the judges believe you created your entries the more likely you are to win, so watermarks or logos are encouraged.
There are no limits on file size, image size, and source footage except that they be reasonable and do not include any graphic sexual content(echii is okay, bondage/tetacle rape is not).
Prizes: The winner will recieve...um...*rumages through shelves*
A new copy of the Brain Powered manga Vol. 1 or Dragon Hunter manga Vol. 1 from Tokyopop and if willing, a job as a content provider here at OAG.
To submit an entry(s), attach the files to an email and send it to contest@otakugifs.com before January 30th,2005.

Short answer, no. Now for the long answer.
It was Thanksgiving, that in combination with excessive amounts of RPGs and mix in a hefty dose of procrastination and sloth. And that my fellow 1-2 second clips of anime loving friends is why I didn't update for two weeks. To prevent any preverbial "brick" coming through any of my preverbial "windows" I posted the last two Inuyasha gifs. Later today(it's currently 6am) I will post a brand new section with lots of goodness.

Finnaly as promised here is the second part to the Samurai Champloo section. The requests are piling up and now more than even I just dont have time. Recently I was hired by AsianFanaticsRadio as a DJ/Host. Not trying to pimp my broadcast..but. I do happen to play some of the best and hottest in Japanese music and not just anime themes I assure you. My time is usually Tuesday-Sunday somewhere from 6-9pm EST. Anyway it's yet another example of crap that has almost no real world benifit. However, this site is my baby and there will be no lag in updates because of it...I've got plenty of other reasons not to update ^_~

This weeks update had to be in two parts because I needed something to put up on saturday so I didn't look like a total jerk for not updating. Problem was Doug broke Newspro and I figured I'd upload the rest of the stuff on Tuesday. Oh and I want to personally thank Crymic for offering a great suggestion to my codec woes. You sir kickass.

So where are the updates? As of this moment there are none. I am officially tapped. My usual routine consists of finding new shows watching them to death and then extracting as many gifs as I can before I delete them. Problem is that more and more fansubbers are using newer codecs that aren't read by just about any of my programs. So I've had to resort to lower quality music vids and promos. These take somewhat longer and leave me with alot fewer results.
This just means I've got to double my efforts to ensure this doesn't happen again.

If you didn't know I'm going through the flu. Something common with most webmasters this time of year. How am I getting through it? With the redneck panacea known as Cough Syrup, Chicken noodle soup, and Sprite. Oh, and a heavy dose of Final Fantasy IX, which I got at a pawn shop for 4 dollars last week.
Part II of "Whore out to the common anime fan" is this weeks update. Who else would it be but Inuyasha. You might notice they're a little higher quality. All thanks to ASFdotcom.net, the Adult Swim sister site of Toonami Arsenal. Both are treasure troves of videos. The amount of content on that site can make anyone's mind boggle or bandwith gringe in pain. Anyway, go forth Sesshomaru fangirls and bask in the goodness.

Naruto is of course winning in the polls. Whoda' thunk it. Ragnarok seems to be popular as well, just keep in mind it's the animation not the game. You wont see and sprites around these parts. I'm currently auditioning for a job on AsianFanatics Radio. A popular shoutcast station that airs 24hour Asian music from China, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam and beyond. I was attracted to the radio by one of their regulars, DJ Shine. A young Asian-American girl who has a very appealing and cute voice, then plays good music to boot. Hopefully, if I can get over this flu and get my voice back I'll get the job. Wish me luck and make sure you turn into AsianFanatics Radio .

Going on a trip this weekend so here's an early update for you. Gundam Seed:Destiny, a sequal to Gundam Seed, is the newest series in the gundam universe and premiered like, a few days ago. Admiral Greer was kind enough to make these in such a short time and I hope you enjoy. The poll over there is looking good, though as I expected people still have an uncanny urge to vote for Naruto. This series has taken over the anime community like a plauge! I've probably, read, seen and heard more from this series than any other in my carreer, but I've only watched the first episode. Anyway VOTE FOR SOMETHING NEW! I'm gonna make them ASAP. Oh...and some more Inuyasha.

Getting closer to the Saturday update schedule that I rarely adhere to. Though I'm sure it's still saturday somewhere in the world. You kow for someone who's SN has been Zechs for so long you'd think I'd have had a Gundam Wing section on here by now? Well here it is in all it's glory and it is far from done. If you look a little to your right(or left if you're one of the creatures that lives in my monitor casing) there is now a new poll. I tried to mix up the options as much as possible but you will notice there may not be as much shoujo on there as people would like. If the series you want is not listed, just enter the name in the comments link. Sorry, the site was on a short hiatus. Just about everyone involved was booked for the weekend. I spent it heling someone move into a new house and taking tests. So excuse my tardiness with the updates. Though, I did manage one thing during the weekend and that was figuring how to decode just about every known video format and that means more footage that can be used for gifs. A lot more. For now here's some Rurouni Kenshin gifs made by Dan. As for the bad news...I lost all the requests from the past six months, bummer. But good news, I've got time for any new ones. If you look around at most other similar sites you'll most likely encounter long winded essays on their puny lives known as The Rant. The Rant is basically a whining space not unlike a blog where the webmaster defecates his thoughts onto the screen in an overly worded high -faultin piece of semi-literature. I like hyphens. Anyway here's some news. I'm conforming to the standards biatch! Yes, each week right here will be a grammer-lacking whinefest on whatever I damn well please. Toady's rant will concern Mitch Hedburg. Now this dude is a comedian, but not just a comedian. He's a FUNNY one. Yeah, as rare a breed as those are Mitch is classified as being genuinely hilarious. Mitch is a soft spoken, Californian kid with simple, extremely clever material. You'll continually finding yourself pondering as to why you hadn't thought of his jokes before. He follows a more classic, lowbrow style of comedy with plenty of one-liners and definitely not any of the ten-minute long setup jokes you see so often now. He usually starts off with some self-depreciation about his lack of fame(which is starting to change), followed by a couple bombs and people start to underestimate him, then he'll come up with something that has you on the floor which eventually leads to a never-ending stream of funny. His delivery is hard to copy so beware trying repeat his lines to others, you won't be as funny. Here's an except from his new cd. Excerpt.

Okay, only ...eight days late. Sorry, I end up working one weekend every month or two and concentrate on getting as many gifs done as possible and sometimes dont have the chance to update. Last weekend was one of those. To make up for that is something many of you have been bitching requesting for months now. Yes, Fruits Basket gifs. I finnaly broke down and watched the series and I have to say it is quite funny. Not Azu Dai funny, but that's another story (wink wink, nudge nudge). As for hurricane news, school was supposed to be cancelled on monday but out of the blue a local news story said they're going to be open. If they in fact are open, I will not be present because I have plausible deniability and can tell them I dont "watch" TV. So yay.

Early update this week due to Anime Festival Orlando. I'm rooming with Iron Chef Joe on the front page and his fiace who run Marachan.com. This is the first time I've done three cons in one year so we'll see if my body can withstand the continued punishment. Gettin' so used to this that I might consider cosplaying at the next one.......yeah ^_^;;
Samurai Deeper Kyo is this weeks update. First series that I read the manga to before I saw the anime. I think the anime is decent in it's own right but the manga seems to present the story better. It's bloody and funny, my favorite combination.

Sorry if it looks like I havn't updated in a while. The last couple of updates got "accidentally" deleted by doug. Don't worry, he's been "accidentally" thrown to the hungry lawn gnomes that live in my basement. Oh, and keeping busy trying to watch all these damn summer movies that I can't seem to escape. The previews are soo pretty. Ooooo Explosions and Green Giants and Sean Connery oh my! Anyway there are three brand new sections that I've added recently and all are awesometastic. The misc section is going to be sort of a home for my underpriveledged gifs that don't have thier own pretty little section, but alot of them are still really nice so check them out. This is the last update before the move. I'll be paying off my server bill here and moving to a much cheaper(free) host. A very good friend to this site who runs andrew-harris.com has offered me 40gigs of bandwith to share. And damn as hell I'm takin it. As soon as the finishing touches are done we'll be proud to present the new version of OAG to all you peoples no later than a week from today.
I've really been enjoying some of these emails and requests. Just so you all know, requests will come at a first come first serve basis, or...whenever I get off my lazy arse to do it. The biggest request so far has been for this odd show called Fruits Basket, and since the people have spoken, they shall recieve in the coming weeks.

For those of you emailing requests for gifs any not getting replies, fear not. I am reading them and in the process of making a big list. As soon as the server move has taken place normally scheduled work shall begin again. Speaking of the move, the fund has unfourtunatly shrunk again. Blame Uma Thurman's amazing preformance in Kill Bill and the pretty yellow packaging of the dvd, not me.

Yeah...the little jar is about half full for the move, we might be able to move by next month. Which, coicedentally is the same time I'll be moving to a newer, shinier crap hole of an aparment. Thanks goes out to those who are helping identify those unknown gifs in the misc. section. Just to keep you entertained until the move I've uploaded a tiny Monty Python page. The real stuff will be hitting the pipes soon. Finnaly, if anyone was wondering what I did during my long hiatus here's is a report of my last convention in orlando it's sorta long but some of the pics are interesting, but my camera was crap. Woah, ya that was long hiatus wasn't it? What happened was that about the second week of Febuary I noticed my bandwith limit was very close to being reached, so I disabled the site until it the limit would rollover. A week or so passed and after some searching I found another host that was alot more generous on bandwith and was the same price as my previous one. Problem right now is funds. Together with opening a new account with the new host, the domain transfer, and paying off my growing bill for my current host; I just dont have the cash right now. Still for some reason anycities has yet to shut down my site or demand payment, so until then feel free to suck this site dry you little bandwith leeches.

Back from vacation and back to work. This site will now update every Monday instead of the normal sporatic updates that I've been doing. First up is Magic Knight Rayearth which is one of my favorite oldskool series. The sequals though do get very repetitive so I wouldn't suggest them. Another good series that I"ve discovered is Happy Lesson. It's what we call a harem anime, in which one poor unfortunate soul has to live or work with a group of women who all secrety, or openly want him. Tenchi Muyo is considered the classic harem show and some other popular ones are Love Hina and El-Hazard. For more info go Here
Happy Lesson is the story of Chitose, a high school student who lives alone in a huge house. Eventually he ends sharing said house with 5 young ladies who all happen to be teachers at his school. They all think of themselves as his "mothers" and take care of him, much to his dismay, as such. The character designs, while all following oversued themes, such as the Rei copy science professor and the costume loving home ec. teacher, yet still had a unique quality that draws the eye. The story, while of course predictable, is still intresting and fun to watch. Oh and did I mention the cheescake ^_^

What can make Otaku Anime Gif better?
A friend of mine told me to present this question, and find out, what could possibly make this site any better. Besides of course being the largest house of animated anime gifs on the net (Ya I know a couple sites have a thousand more sprites and kaos, but those dont count). Whether you think we need even more content, are missing a series you like, or hate the layout. Tell us. We can take it.

Heh, been a while hasn't it. Well dont frown I actually have been doing alot of work...just not putting any of it up, but I do have something to show for my absence that being the winner of the poll, Inuyasha, now it has it's own very nice section.
In other news I have subcummbed to Yu-Gi-Oh...I know it's pathetic but it's just so overblown I can't help but worship it. Those half hour long speeches on battling strategies and friendship are intoxicating, to the point of sheer madness even. I have found myself awaiting saturday morning like christmas in pajamas and socks. Reminicing of being nine years old, when this was acceptable behavior.Ah how I miss the joy of waking up parents at 7am watching power rangers, with the volume cranked up dancing wildly to the theme song. Then forcing them later on in the day to take you to the Karate lessons you begged them for, and then to Toys R Us to purchase untold amounts of PVC plastic figurines.
It almost makes me want to go and start buying the cards., but then I remember that Magic is better and I turn off the tv and go back to sleep

I really do feel like Menchi up there this week. If there are any kids out there know this one thing; High School(particularly 11th grade) is HELL! And no I'm not just saying that because I've had three exams this week and training for an audition on top of the homework load. While still trying to bring you, the valued customer, regular updates. In other news, the new Counter Strike 1.6 is being released today! Whoooo. Now, you may be asking why post this on a site devoted to animated anime gif images? Because it's my site and I do what I want ^_^

Anyway poll is to help me see what kind of series you people are into and what's in demand. Right now Inuyasha and GTO are in the lead with my personal fav R.O.D lagging behind. Whoever wins will be the first series I start on for a new section. Speaking of new sections an Agent Aika amv came across my desk( aka KazaA) and you may enjoy the spoils. Some are on the large side, but I just couldn't help spooge splurging on them....hehe.

Sometimes for fun I like to check out my "competition" in the gif making buisness. Today let's take a peak at this so called competition shall we.
First up is Anime Admirers
I actually have to thank this site. On another layout this gave me the basic javascript popup idea. But outside of that little bit of genius, the person who runs this site isn't all that bright. The person complains of hotlinking yet decided on putting ONE gif on a page. Instead of just getting an database script that blocks it. Now, don't get me wrong, outside of featuring the series that I have the most discontempt for, I think it's a well made site. There's one other thing that makes me doubt the person's sanity though, is this......ROFLMAO.....okay I'm sorry that just makes me pee my pants every time I read it. That process is way too painstaking and the resulting quality isn't good at all. Not to mention it must take like an hour just to make one lousy image. If I did that I would pass out after the third one. Site ranking B-
Next is Animated Anime Gifs Paranoia
Oh look at us, we're number one on all the search engines!....Grr. This is the only site that really reserves some props. The girl who runs it doesn't update much, but in terms of just pure numbers, with like 3000+ it's the best. The only problem I have is that they're collected from like a bunch of other sites. Though in her defense the ones that are on there have gone around the block so many times they're pretty much public property. Another thing is that she mainly focuses on sprites and more traditional gifs. While I on the other hand, am one of the only sites that focuses only on "gif movies". Site Ranking A-
And Finnaly...oh wait....there aren't any more. Heh, well unless you count the 3 billion pRon sites that come up when you type in anime gifs in a search engine there ain't much else.

Hehe, well that was nearly a tragedy. My host decided to switch it's payment mode without informing me. So as a result they almost shut deleted my account cause I didn't pay them for three months. Problem corrected, host no longer pissed at me, I'm $15.43 more broke. Moving on, yes besides this fact there is another eason to celebrate. Yours truly is celebrating his sweet 16. W00t! now I can drive...Damn the british, you turn 16 there and the only thing you CANT do is buy pRon.
Also I forgot to mention that school started..like three weeks ago. So far the year hasn't started off that bad. Except having a giant ball of flaming ball of methane(no not the poo kind) gas shoot out at me during our first chem lab. What's odd is that I find myself updating this site more now with less free time, than I did during summer with infinite free time. I had someone ask me recently where I actually get most of these animations and how I do it. I directed the person to the FAQ, but figured that it didn't really give a good answer. So now me take time to explain. *ahem*
1) Most of the animations come from AMV(Anime Music Videos) I come across. On occasion they also come from full episodes, but I find that alot of times the sequences I want are obstructed by subtitles. With the AMVs I try to make sure that none of the transitions or creator's changes get used so as to make sure it looks like it could have come straight from the show itself. Just to be nice I try to link the homepages of the artists to thank them for the footage that they so nicely packaged for me.
2)How do I make them? Now I've had problems deciding if this secret of all secrets should be revealed, but I'm in a good mood so....I promise to write a tutorial soon ^_^

Yes, finnaly some traffic. I feel all mushy inside, yay \^-^/. Anywho just got a brand new setup and it happens to kick enough ass to kick all the ass in a 4.67x10^8sqmi area. Let's just say that's alot of ass. With the new comp which has been dubbed Tomiko Revain(don't ask), I plan on being able to get things done alot faster and you'll probably notice an improvement in quality too. So, less talking more gifage, here are the first gifs that I've created with the help of little Tomiko.

"Teh Spook", being the patriotic animation student he is, suggested I start making american animation gifs. I laughed at him for a good half hour before saying...maybe. Truth is I have made a few from great shows like Space Ghost:C2C and Aqua Teens. But if anything those will go in a miscellaneous section. But I'm always open to requests people. You want something from the Matrix, Batman, whatever I'll be glad to do it for you. Just drop me a line and try to be specific with what you need and it shall be done when I got time, which with the current state of my summer is alot. Please give me some work.

Love Hina section updated go check it out. Yep, Finnaly got my lazy web designer to get somethin done. He gave me a final date of May 8th to be finished. If all goes well this site will be moving to a better host and thus will have alot more bandwith to play around and finnaly an actual domain name. If anyone has some good suggestion for names feel free to send them on by.

Alright the misc section is up, only took two months of procrastination. In other news I've gotten another person willing to redo the layout for this site, so expect a total change in the next month. Once that happens I'll actually start updating regularly. Not only will the gifs start flowing in, the reviews, tutorials, and everything else this site is lacking(includng visitors) will be put on a steady update schedule.

So anyway people tell me that I should update regardless of how much the layout pisses me off so just for you special people I'm will. The sections that are empty or lacking will be filled with mucho content that has ben sitting around here for ages. On another note I'm sorta becoming "The avatar guy" for Toonami Infolink with about a quarter of the people there using my stuff. Yet again if you have an avatar request for anything whatsoever just give me a basic idea and email me.

Well for some reason people are actually coming here. This is a good thing for me but a bad thing for you since the updates aren't going to be coming for a while. I've been told if I do change the site ALL the pages are going to have to be remade so until the changes take place there won't be much in the way of any new stuff. I'm taking alot of courses on Flash and trying to form a small team to help me try to make a half decent site that will someday be the best (if only) gif site around. I also want to reming you that if you want something that's not on the site EMAIL me. There are alot of gifs I've never uploaded to the site and are just begging to be used.
